Obituary

In profound sorrow we the Management & Staff of Turnbull's Funeral Home & Crematory Services announce the passing of Eleanor Whyte, 76, of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands who passed away Wednesday, July 01, 2026.

Born January 12, 1950, on St. Thomas, USVI to Jeremiah and Bellencita Benjamin, she was a cherished and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, entrepreneur, counselor, and friend.

During formative development, Eleanor (Ellie) grew up on St. John and moved to St. Thomas early in life where she pursued the professional field of nutrition and dietetics, then eventually nursing. She met and married Alvin Recardo Whyte II, and together they launched Six Pack Water Delivery, which serviced the island for more than thirty-seven years. During the lifecycle of the business, she managed the entire backend operations, a monumental task.

A faithful believer in Jesus Christ, Ellie was a parishioner at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, where she dutifully served as an usher for more than a decade. She was committed to and supported multiple ministries to dig wells for clean drinking water; provide food, clothing, and shelter to orphans and the homeless; and propagate the good news of the gospel.

Eleanor is survived by her four children, who are Charles Henley, Larry Antonio Henley, Channell Whyte-Turnbull, and Alvin R. Whyte III; four siblings, which are Nellerine Rhymer, Malgaritta Allen,, Isaiah Benjamin, and Yvonne Tatum; as well as thirteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
