In profound sorrow we the Management & Staff of Turnbull's Funeral Home & Crematory Services announce the passing of Helena Faulkner Tapia who entered eternal rest on Thursday, June 18, 2026. She was preceded in death by her father John Amos Delville; her mother, Ena Felix Faulkner; husband, Emilio Tapia Mojica; her brothers, Eduardo Faulkner and Adolfo Faulkner; her sister, Ethlyn Freeman; and her son, Roberto Tapia.

Helen lived a long and fulfilling life of 99 years. She was a pillar of the Virgin Islands community, serving as a cosmetology teacher at Charlotte Amalie High School for many years. She also served as a board member of the Virgin Islands Cosmetology Association and was the owner of Helen's Beauty Salon and Mojica's Place, a residential apartment community that remains in existence today.

Helen was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on September 26, 1926, and was raised on the islands of Tortola and Puerto Rico. She completed her formal cosmetology education in New York City and later returned to St. Thomas. Sister Helen was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, and her devotion to God and love for others will continue to resonate with all who were blessed to know her.

She is survived by her children, Roylando Smith Sr. and Ricardo Tapia; Sister Clarita C. Turnbull,  her daughter-in-law, Glenda Tapia; and her grandchildren, Roylando Smith Jr., Leeroy Smith, Wilbert Smith, Roystein Smith, Rueben Smith, Tenekua Dugan, Taisha Ottey, Tequioa Tapia, Aleja Tapia, Tajia Tapia, Rosa Tapia, Roberto Tapia Jr., Tiah Tapia, Khalid Tapia, Raquel Tapia, and Rochelle Tapia. She is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

She is further remembered by close family members Gladys Collins Faulkner, her niece; and Rosie DeCastro Williams, her goddaughter. Special friends include Sister Sandra Lindo, Ernistina Rodriguex Upia, Carol Serge, Beryl Prentice, and Judge Holler.
