In profound sorrow we the Management & Staff of Turnbull's Funeral Home & Crematory Services announce the passing of Jermaine Joseph Ezikial Bass, known to many as "Kimbe Dan" and "King Dan," who passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2026, in Oahu, Hawaii.

A beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, Jermaine's life was defined by his passion for music, his craftsmanship, and the connections he built with those around him.

Jermaine was born on November 4, 1982, in St. Kitts, West Indies, to Joseph and Margaret Bass. At a young age, he relocated with his family to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, where he was raised. He attended elementary and middle school in St. Thomas and graduated from Ivanna Eudora Kean High School in 2000.

During his early years, Jermaine developed a passion for the art of music, particularly reggae, both musically and lyrically. He became a member of the Star Lion family, where he formed bonds rooted in music, unity, and brotherhood. As an artist, he sang, wrote songs, and performed as part of the group. He is also remembered by members of the Star Lion family: Rafijah Siano (Rafael Gris), Pressure Busspipe (Delyno Brown), Jahgon Nature (Ashley Frett), Ickarus (Glenrone Hodge), Siras (Ron Rivera), and Niyorah (Nigel Olivacce). He was also a member of Infiniti Sounds,where he DJed alongside Gajo (Dwayne Adams) and Trollo (Steven Louis Jr.).

He later made his way to Hawaii, where he built a life in carpentry and construction while continuing to develop his musical craft. He worked at Kazi Foods Corp of Hawaii and later as a Wood Craftsman with Martin & MacArthur until his passing. During this time, he remained active in music and was a part of both the Caribbean diaspora and the Hawaiian community, sharing his talent and cultural roots through his work. He was a talented builder and artist, known for his love of family, his music, his energy, and his ability to connect with and encourage others to be their best.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Joseph and Margaret Bass; sisters, Sylvia Mercer, Valma Bass, and Jacquette Maynard; brother, Travis Bass; brothers-in-law, Kaj Mercer and Tyrone Maynard; nieces, Shikeema Challenger, Keri Bachelor, Indikah Bass, and Oluwayemisi Paul; nephew, Jayvon Bass; great-nephews, T'Jahni Toussaint and A'Jahri Davis; great-nieces, Cha'Myrah Weekes and I'Asia Challenger; aunts, Joan Bass, Janis Crosse, Melva Morton, Donnette Maynard, and Viola Welcome; uncles, Leonard Bass, Ashley Bass, Vanzell Bass, Emile Bass, Lochton Bass, Arthlyn Welcome, and Norman Welcome; uncles-in-law, Calwyn Morton, Doval Broadbelt, Fitzroy Maynard, Halva Burt; aunts-in-law, Glennis Bass, Bonnie Bass, Excelsa Bass, Ruby Bass, Sylvia Bass; special friend, Chalice Kailikea; the Burt, Morton, Maynard, and Edwards families; as well as many cousins, extended family members, and friends too numerous to mention.
