In profound sorrow we the Management & Staff of Turnbull's Funeral Home & Crematory Services announce the passing of Karl MacDonald Sutton, 63, of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, passed away on Oct. 13, 2026. Born and raised in St. Thomas, he spent his formative years in Milwaukee, Wisc., as one of the beloved “Sutton Brothers.”

Karl was a dual graduate of the Milwaukee School of Engineering in mechanical engineering and architecture. Over his career, he lent his talents to Harley-Davidson, Midwest Express Airlines, J.U.B King & Associates, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Known across the island as “Chef Mac,” he was also a gifted culinary talent, avid golfer, and passionate host who loved sharing the beauty of St. Thomas.

Karl is survived by his loving mother, Adriana Sutton; son, Deonte Sutton; daughter-in-law, Chanice; grandchildren, Deonte Jr., Kaiah, Maiah, Jordan, and Morgan; his brothers and sisters; and a large circle of cherished nieces, nephews, extended family, and lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Sutton.
