It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly beloved, Ophelia Fabienne Bannis, affectionately known as "Mom."
She died at the age of 74 on January 30, 2024 in St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands.
Preceding her in death were:
Father: Gabriel Bannis,
Mother: Melanie Jno Finn, nee Cornelius;
Brother: Lawrence Bannis;
Sisters: Agnette Walsh, Sabina Bannis, Ignatia Durand, Verge Cornelius.
Grandson: Tresen Christopher
Ophelia is survived by her Step-mother Louisa Bannis;
Sons: Frank, Michael, and Keith Drigo, and Jason Christopher;
Daughters-in-law: Deshaun Victoria, Marvlyn M Drigo, Pauline Chinnery;
Godchildren: Angela Robin, Danny Allick;
Uncles: McDonald, Alexander, and Bernard Bannis;
Brothers: Rupert, Charles, Damian, and Cletus Bannis, Martin, Brentol, Urne, Stephan, and Herbie Cornelius;
Sisters: Ruby and Joanne Bannis, Katie Vigilant, Whilma Jno Baptiste, and Marvlyn Cornelius;
Brothers-in-law: John Vigilant, Oliver Walsh, Clayton Jno Baptiste;
Sisters-in-law: Heafline Bannis, Linda Bannis, Carol Bannis, Noelise "Maggie" Cornelius, Dana Cornelius;
Grandchildren: Marlita, Khann, Kia, T'Keya, Keith Jr, Maliek Drigo, Khalifa Crooke, J'Moi, J'Kai, Jasnae Christopher;
Great grandchildren: Kiona Seraphin, Knai, Isabelle, Keimora, and Kieth Drigo III;
Numerous nieces and nephews including: Julie, Durry, Irvin, Sylma, Marese, Kimana, Samona, Lawrencia, Shernel, Clesha, Keisha, Naomi, Marah, Natasha, Ellen, Julia, Joshua, Kurt, Tresson, Paul, Jonathan, Shandy, Annie.
Other Family Members and Friends, including the entire Bannis, Cornelius, and Jno Finn families in Dominica and abroad, too numerous to mention.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 23rd, 2024, at Holy Family Catholic Church, St. Thomas, USVI.
The viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., with services to follow immediately at 10 a.m.
If possible, the family is humbly requesting that persons attending wear light colors with a color theme of light peach.
Interment will be at the Eastern Cemetery, Smith Bay.
