Roald had been a resident of the US Virgin Islands for over 17 years after moving from Michigan. Roald was a veteran of His Majesty's Royal Air Force, serving as a squadron commander, and his greatest hobby was scuba diving, of which he was a PADI certified master instructor. Roald is survived by his son, Alex.
