In profound sorrow we the Management & Staff of Turnbull's Funeral Home & Crematory Services announce the passing of Rudolph A. Slack, 84, of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands who passed away Thursday, July 03, 2025.
We bid farewell to our beloved, one-of-a-kind, and deeply cherished Dad — a distinguished and fiercely devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and cousin. A native son of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, he passed peacefully at the home he lovingly designed and built for his family — a lasting testament to his vision, strength, and unwavering love.

Slack, as he was affectionately called by many, was a proud native son of the soil, hailing from the historic neighborhood of Savan — a true "Savanero." He dedicated his life to his family, his church, and broader community where he served in so many capacities. Among his many contributions, he was widely regarded as one of the finest, most dedicated and renowned Electrical Contractors to have ever served the Territory.

He was also a dedicated public servant, known and loved by so many, who served in his trade with the Department of Education of the U. S. Virgin Islands for decades. During his time with the Department and beyond, he mentored hundreds of young men and taught his craft with pride and a relentless commitment to excellence to the upcoming generations. He became a successful entrepreneur in his own right, a dad who was deeply passionate about everything he did, with a keen eye for detail right to the end. His life's work, generous heart, and example have left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories and is survived by his daughters Denise M. Slack Tilghman, LaVerne "LaVie" M. Slack and Charmaine L. Slack, Esq., along with his Granddaughters: Jai-né M. Tilghman Pierre, Nia AmaTilghman, MD and Camille D. Tilghman;Grandsons: Juwan J. Blyden, LaVonté A.J. Blyden; Great-grandchildren:  Sanai A. Pierre, Malachi J. Pierre and Xyda A.C. Matthew-Blyden; Brother: Randolph "Deco" or "Pow Pow" Christian; Sister-In-Law:  LaTrease Christian; Son-In-Law: Craig Tilghman; Grandson-In-Law:  Marc Pierre; Nephews:  Dale "Presto" Christian, Captain Roland Fahie, Sr., U.S. Navy (Ret.), Lebourne "Highie" Dowe, Chief Hospital Corpsman (FMF) Ronald "Rem" Claxton, USN, Ret., AT1 Troy "Inchie" Claxton, Craig "Sunku" Claxton, Jean "Fisherman" Magras, Jr., Leroy "Gabby" Somersall, Jr., Steve Julius, George Raymond and Darrell Raymond; Nieces: Mercedes Phipps, Coleen Hendricks, Charlene Austin, Denise Magras, Min. Diane Benjamin, Urisha"Patsy" Merchant, Desiree Raymond and Donna Raymond West, as well other family members, cousins, great-niecesand nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, great-great-great nieces and nephews, godchildren and dear friends too numerous to mention.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arnold Slack and Beatrice Wallace Christian, son Rhudel Slack and sisters Lauris Slack Raymond, Marilyn "Girly" Georges and Marian "Amy" Christian.
