In profound sorrow we the Management & Staff of Turnbull's Funeral Home & Crematory Services announce the passing of Sadie Elizabeth Reaves, 95, of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands who passed away Monday, November 06, 2023.

Ms. Sadie E. Reaves, L.P.N. became an employee at the Knud Hansen Memorial Hospital in 1971. It was there that the first playroom for Pediatrics was formed under the direction of Women of Evans, in which Ms. Reaves and other members worked with the late Governor  Melvin Evans.

Ms. Reaves, in 1977, resigned from Knud Hansen Memorial Hospital and went to work for the Bureau of Corrections as First Nurse. With a strong drive and help from the community, she was able to form the first infirmary health care for inmates. Ms. Reaves attended a four-week course on St. Croix in which she achieved an Emergency Medical Services Certificate of Completion. She was congratulated by the late Governor Cyril E King.

After retirement, Sadie remained active in the community. Anything to do with health screening , Sadie is there to lend a hand. Sadie enlisted the help of others to which they called themselves " The Community Outreach Medical Group" as they joined forces with Mr. Cory Lettsome of the Department of Education School Lunch Program Commodities Distribution providing water, juices and blood pressure screening to senior citizens that attend to pick up food supplies.

Before Ms. Reaves' passing  "Nurse" as she affectionately called  you could see her at Plaza Extra-Manager Mr. Sami Asad located at Tutu Park Mall doing blood pressure screening weekly Monday thru Wednesday.
Ms. Sadie Reaves loved health care and helping in the community.
