It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Zida Paris, age 91, of St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands. She passed away peacefully at home on July 23, 2026, and went to be with her Lord and Savior. Zida was preceded in death by her parents, Zephaniah and Oliva Callwood; her sons, Balvin and Marvin Paris; her sisters, Sylvia Callwood, Una Callwood, and Gertrude Callwood; and her brothers, Lionel Callwood, Raymond "Junie" Callwood, and Lucien "Claude" Callwood; She leaves to cherish her memory her six children: Sherman Chinnery, Eurena Callwood, Olaf "Oral" Paris, Camille "Juju" Paris Jr., Annette Paris, and Leon Santos; her sisters, Lestelle Turbe, Esmeralda Fraser, and Pearlette Chinnery; her brothers, Wendell Callwood and Urmon Callwood;
She is also survived by her 20 grandchildren: Carmona Leerdam, Eboni Chinnery, Shelley Chinnery-Antoine, Shalia Chinnery, Sherwin Callwood, Juliza Chinnery, Lenin Mongerie, Larissa Callwood, Shakan Paris, Sharalyn Paris, J'vonne Paris, D'Vonne Paris, Ju'neece Paris, J'Vonni Paris, Sherry Turnbull, Chrystall Turnbull, Sherika Turnbull, Charisma Turnbull, Lekishma Santos, and Nataniel Clarke. She was blessed with 30 great-grandchildren: Soul'Jah Leerdam, Ithiopia Leerdam, Ihylyah Leerdam, Keimani Chinnery, Kaleb Meyers, Kamille Meyers, Ajhante Antoine, Sion Antoine, Akim Antoine, Sanaa Antoine, Sadia Chinnery, Nikai Callwood, Heaven Callwood, Halo Callwood, Hezekiah Callwood, Omar Mongerie, Sierra Mongerie, I'lyjah Callwood, K'Nyla Hendricks, K'Nysia Hendricks, Caliyah Stephenson, Zanae Smith, Je'Nique Sylvester, T'Jontae Jarvis, Lemuel Liburd III, Cassandi Turnbull, Cherish Turnbull, David Doston, Jhazlyn Williams, and Natalia Clarke. She is further survived by her daughters-in-law, Camelia Chinnery, Cicely Paris, and Theresa Santos; her son-in-law, Laurel "Larry" Callwood; her aunts: Geraldine Callwood, Ena Callwood, and Daisy Graham; her uncle: James Callwood. her sisters-in-law, Merril "Pinky" Callwood and Olivia "Lena" Callwood; her brother-in-law, Glanville “Will” Fraser; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends throughout the United States and the British Virgin Islands, too numerous to mention. Honoring a life well lived and a memory forever treasured.
